The Reid Heart Center

A team that treats you right . . . here at home

The Reid Heart Center brings full-service cardiac care to the seven-county area of Indiana and Ohio served by Reid Hospital. Since Reid expanded its cardiac care program in 2003, area heart patients have discovered the quality and personal touch that has set Reid apart for more than a century. Heart patients are finding comfort in the experience of our team and the compassionate care received from expert physicians, nurses and support staff. With the completion of Reid Hospital's new campus in 2008, The Reid Heart Center will offer complete care in one central location on the New Reid campus at 1100 Reid Parkway, when our cardiologists, diagnostics, surgeons and surgery areas area all under one roof.

Our Services:

  • Open-heart Surgery - Patients benefit from not only an experienced surgeon, but an experienced team whose patients are sometimes neighbors and friends. We offer the latest technology, including "endo-vein" harvesting that makes heart surgery less painful and promotes faster healing. Our patients frequently express gratitude for making the program available so they avoid the stresses of transfers to big-city hospitals.
  • Catheterizations - More than 9,600 catheterizations have been performed at Reid in the past decade. We recently added a second cath lab to accommodate growing need. Reid also provides comprehensive related tests including EKGs, stress testing and more.
  • Angioplasty & Stents - Balloon angioplasty and stenting is sometimes an alternative to open-heart surgery. More than 400 such procedures have been done at Reid in less than two years.
  • Calcium CT Scans (CT Cardiac Scoring) - This test helps spot heart disease in its earliest stages, allowing aggressive action and treatments that can help prolong life. Reid offers this screening for only $100 - it can be scheduled without a referral with one phone call to Central Scheduling: (765) 983-3358.
  • Electrophysiologic (EP) Studies - EP studies are for patients with symptoms of heart rhythm disorders.
  • Cardiac Ablation - This procedure can resolve the "short circuits" that sometimes cause disturbances in heart rhythms.
  • Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators (ICDs) & Pacemakers - Implantable cardioverter defibrillators are effective in fighting sudden cardiac arrest.
  • Other Services - EKGs, stress testing and more.
